Graduating Year: 2016

Education: Engineering Pre-Major (Mechanical Engineering from UK) BA Physics from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»

Career: Mechanical Engineer at Mammotome

“The Pre-Engineering program at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» has greatly impacted my life for the better. By enrolling at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³», it allowed me to get all of my general education and Physics requirements out of the way before diving into engineering. The small and personalized Physics classes allowed me to feel like my teachers knew me and cared about my education because they truly did. The reason I was so successful at the University of Kentucky was because of my professors and the tough curriculum. The physics classes set me up to greatly succeed when I transferred. I was used to the high expectations and fast-paced learning curve. When comparing my Physics knowledge base to my peers who only attended UK, it was easy to see that having a more one on one learning environment allowed me to be more prepared and set up for the challenge of applying Physics to everyday engineering problems.â€

The choice to go to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» for the dual degree program with UK was the most beneficial choice that I could have made in my college career. True it did take me 5 years to complete my college career, but I ultimately, I ended up with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and in Physics, which set me up to be ahead of the rest. When applying for the job I have now they were actually more impressed with my Physics degree than my Engineering Degree. The program also opened up opportunities to do research and apply all of the information I was learning. I will always look back at my college years and be so thankful that I made the decision to attend Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³». If I had not attended Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» I would not be as successful as I am today.

  • State-of-the-Art Equipment: Our learning centers house numerous laboratory spaces with shared scientific equipment that students use during research with faculty and during experiments conducted within laboratory courses.
  • Hands-on Learning: The Center for Integrative Natural Science and Mathematics (CINSAM) leads projects where students are involved in STEM research, leadership and communication opportunities.
  • Accelerated Transfer Program: Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»â€™s transfer programs with the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville offer students the opportunity to take three years of study at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³», then transfer, so by the time they earn their B.S. in Engineering, they’ve also earned a B.A. in Physics or Chemistry from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³».
